Emily Trombly Employee Spotlight

Tell us about yourself.

I am an adventure photographer who loves any activity that gets me outside. You'll most likely see me out on adventures with my dog, Finnegan.

What is your role at Liberty Mountain?

I began working at Liberty Mountain in March of 2021. I started as the Digital Marketing Specialist working on email campaigns, social media, and web content. Since then I have moved into the In-House Photographer role and Digital Marketing Specialist focusing on social media and web content. I love that I am able to get out and take photos of our athletes and employees enjoying what they love to do.

What is a typical day like for you at Liberty Mountain?

My typical day at Liberty Mountain includes taking product photos, going out in the field and taking lifestyle images, editing videos, catching up with our athletes and employees on social media, and working on updating content that may be out of date on the website.

What are your favorite outdoor activities?

I enjoy rock climbing, photography, mountain biking, trail running, hiking, and backpacking.

What is your favorite outdoor area?

I absolutely love Ten Sleep, Wyoming for the amazing climbing! I spent a whole summer in Ten Sleep and had so much fun meeting other climbers, taking photos, and exploring the area.

What is your first memory of spending time outdoors?

I grew up camping in Michigan with my family. We would always take trips in the summer to different places all over Michigan to explore and find waterfalls and lakes.

What is your dream vacation spot?

Right now, I am itching to check out Baja and learn how to surf, or Thailand for the stellar climbing.

Do you have an inspirational hero?

There isn't one specific person. It is really just anyone who does big wall climbing because that is something I have never done before, but would love to dive into!

What is one of your favorite pieces of gear that you cannot live without?

Definitely my camera. It has become a part of me. With it, I can create art by telling stories of the people and places around me that mean a lot. Capturing these moments is a part of who I am.

If you could have any piece of gear, what would it be?

I would love to switch to a mirrorless camera. My passion is photographing adventures and activities that are more physically demanding, which can be harder with the heavy full frame camera that I carry around with me right now.

Mirrorless cameras are lighter and easier to carry, so taking the kinds of photos I want would be more comfortable and easily accessible.

What is your favorite food to chow-down after a long day of adventuring?

Pizza or cheese fries, hands down! My favorite place to go is River Rock Roasting Company in La Verkin, Utah. I always stop by after a day of climbing or exploring in the St. George area to get their delicious pizza and pop.

What is your most interesting travel story?

During my roadtrip in 2020, I was traveling around South Dakota heading to a crag when I saw two dogs run across the freeway. I immediately pulled over and called the dogs so I could see if they had collars. When they came over, I pulled them in close to my body to comfort them and check their collars for a phone number. Suddenly, I started to smell something really bad and could feel something warm and squishy on the dogs. I quickly realized that they were both covered in cow manure, and it had gotten all over me too. That didn't stop me from saving the dogs though. I got a hold of their owner and put the dogs in my car to take them home. This caused my car, which was my home at the time, to get covered in the manure and the horrible stench that came with it. I headed straight to the nearest gas station to wash off afterwards, but unfortunately the smell hung around a bit longer.

We love having Emily on our Liberty Mountain team. She always has a smile on her face and is ready to dive into any challenge from social media campaigns to photoshoots. She has a great eye for beautiul photos and a contangious energy that gets everyone excited about what we have going on at Liberty Mountain.
